Description

The 1962-63 SPORTS ROADSTER model is one of the rarest as it was only made in 1962 and 63 and a total of 1427 were made as factory sports roadster not like msot of them tht is conversions from a coupe. It is made in their Wixom, Michigan plant and it features their high performance engine that is 390 cubic inch V8 with 4 barrell carburetor and put out 300 HP!(That is a respectable number even for today !)It also have the 3 speed automatic with swing away steering to help getting in and out of the car. This particular car is a loaded example as it has factory air, power seats,power brake,power windows, power top with factory toneau cover to convert it to a 2 seaters. As you can see the interior air filter and engine part have polished chrome. It also have the exclusive factory option Kelsey Hayes wired wheels and white wall tires. This magnificent vehicle was totally restored and then put into storage. When it was taken out of storage recently by a classic car museum, it received a tune up ,all new brakes, carburetor rebuilt, new battery, and new mufflers. It starts with no hesitation and runs with smoothness like it was 50 years ago! I personally ahve driven this car for 500 miles and i can say it is in astonishing condition as the car track stright, stops on a dime and accelerate with urgency considering it is a 3 speed automatic.

This rare car is made more desirable by jsut completing a nine month long ground up restoration.All chrome pieces were removed and rechromed( grill, both bumpers, headlight and tail light pieces and all exterior trim pieces.Fresh new paint job with 4 coats of clear coat was applied and every inch of the body is gone over to make sure there is no dings and perfect as black paint is the most unforgiving of surface imperfection.The top mechanism was completely redone with the latest micro processor controlled mechanism and new custom made struts are install to ensure a faster and flawless operation. Brand new vinyl top was also installed as you can see. For the collector we will also include all the original power top parts( motor, relays, original struts ). New top was also installed.The interior were completely gone over as well and restored to a new car look. All the interior metal panels were refinished and polished to a new car look. Interior vinyl and plastic pieces are all gone over to make them looking new. Brand new door panels were also installed. vrious knobs wer replaced . All engine and transmission seals were replaced and new poer steering pump installed. carburator rebuild , new battry, mufflers , various hoses are all replaced for perfect opration. This car runs great with a very throaty growl and starts with no hesitation. From the way it drives and starts i would say the mileage is true as it just drive too good to be anything but a 22000 mile car!!!

The kelsy hayes wheels were perfect with no curb rash or peeling.

Out of the 1427 cars, there were not many left in this condition and with these options. This was a very expensive car in it's day, the MSRP was about $5500 optioned as this car is 50 years ago. This was a car meant for the affluent american driver and it commands respect and attention everywhere it goes. I personally drove this after i received it to make sure everything is as it should be and frankly it gets more looks and tourist taking pictures on the Las Vegas strip than my lamborghini or any other italian exotics that i have owned ( and i have owned plenty as many of you might have known ! ).
